Shiitake are one of the tastiest mushrooms you can grow (in my opinion!) and they're pretty easy too, if you're using a grow kit!

Why Shiitake are great for new growers

Shiitake are fairly easy even for the newest of mushroom growers - particularly if you have access to a grow kit!

Another of my favourite edible mushrooms is the Shiitake, or Lentinula edodes. These are a fairly popular type for grow kits, although they do tend to take a fair while to grow, and they aren’t always as successful as another species like the oyster mushroom.

Shiitake can be grown in a range of ways, one common but slow method is through wooden plugs.
